Ohio Shakespeare Festival Weekend Workshops

Our talented company members and educators want to share their skills and expertise with the community.  These fun and intensive programs are masterclasses in some of the most exciting elements of theatre.

Classes are suitable for all skill levels!  Whether you are a dedicated actor hoping to hone her classical acting skills or the curious beginner looking to have some fun with the Bard, we have the class you're looking for.

Small class environment, two days of training, and on the actual Greystone Stage.  At $75-$100 per student (depending on the course), these classes are a steal!  See below for detailed descriptions, or start shopping right away.

Scholarship applications are available upon request.  OSF wants to make our art accessible to the entire community.  Please reach out to us if you feel your student may qualify for one of our need-based scholarships.

Finding truth in acting Shakespeare

March 4 & 5

12:00-3:00 Both days

An acting class meant to prepare actors for future auditions and classical work. Join OSF actor-educator Geoff Knox for a two day workshop focusing on classical acting techniques. Participants will shake-off their "Shakespeare voice" and find out how to express classical text with honesty and immediacy.  If you've ever struggled to connect with a Shakespeare monologue, this class is for you.  Recommended ages 14+.

Explore the other worldly creatures that make up some of the Bard’s best work: faeries, elves, witches, ghosts, and gods!  With teacher Tess Burgler and Katie Zarecki, Students will step into these magical beings as they explore new ways to move their bodies, enhance their focus, and alter their speech through Shakespeare’s most riveting scenes.  Students will build confidence through body awareness, exploring new planes of speech and movement, and stepping outside the self to become something...magical!  Best for ages 8-12.

April 22 & 23

12:00-3:00 BOTH DAYS

Budding actors will learn the building blocks of theatre in this fun, play-centered workshop. With OSF educator Sarah Coon, Students will explore how to create a character and react to their environment, while learning theatre basics such a stage directions and common phrases. Other activities will focus on transferable skills including teamwork and concentration. Ages 6-9

Shakespeare and sound

May 13 & 14

Join OSF actor-educator Lara Mielcarek for this vocal workshop. Explore how the use of consonants and vowels unlock the mystery behind Shakespeare's great characters. A magical aural experience that will tap the actor into the truest connection with a character's emotional and analytical self. Ages 13-19
